A DDoS attack knocks down half the Internet

This weekend, a massive DDoS attack has rendered some of the world's most important websites inoperative, among which are Twitter, Spotify and PayPal, among many others.

A DDoS attack seeks to saturate the connections of a website or a server in order to render them inoperative.

Among the services affected by this attack are:

  • CNN.
  • Github.
  • Netflix.
  • PayPal.
  • Playstation Network.
  • Reddit.
  • Spotify.
  • Starbucks.
  • Twitter.
  • Xbox.com.

The U.S. government and the FBI have announced that they are already investigating the attack that, For now, the authors are unknown.
