The IT systems administrator of a large commercial store dedicated to decoration in Palma was sentenced this Wednesday to 1 one year in prison for discovery and disclosure of secrets for accessing staff emails and leaking them to a television channel.
In the trial held before the first section of the Palma Court of Justice, the accused admitted having taken advantage of his position as IT manager to randomly access without any authorization the corporate email accounts of several executives and employees of the decoration store, between January and July of 2012.
Among the emails accessed, there was one in which reference was made to the dismissal of a works council member. The IT specialist forwarded it to a television program that he knew would cover the labor dispute, and did so using a mail sending system that concealed data and made it appear to have been sent from the business.
The accused himself submitted a written confession of the facts to the duty court in July of 2012, which made the investigation possible.
As you can see, estas cosas no sólo pasan en Estados Unidos.
