Miguel Ángel Vázquez, director de la Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) in Palma, fue detenido el martes, por los agentes del Cuerpo Nacional de Policía, por cometer una presunta usurpación de identidad, utilizando la identidad de antiguos maestros del centro para apoyar a su favor en elecciones internas.
Vázquez fue puesto en libertad con cargos ya que se presenció personalmente y mostró su disposición, a la autoridad judicial, a comparecer cuando se le requiera.
Un comunicado oficial de la policía, bajo el nombre de “operación Academo”, se le imputaron cargos por usurpación de identidad y por descubrimiento y revelación de secretos.
Todo comenzó en 2017 cuando diferentes pedagogos del centro, who no longer worked there, reported the use of their identity to vote in internal elections of the academic center to choose the next representative of the professor-tutors.
Once the investigation was carried out, it was determined that the accused had accessed the email accounts of 16 former teachers, whose removal should have been processed, and changed their passwords to vote on behalf of the former teachers of the center.
Vázquez was responsible for processing the hiring and removal of faculty at UNED, not deactivating the emails, allowed him to use their identity to benefit himself in the representative elections.
