After much speculation, it has finally happened. Google has suspended its alliance with Huawei after the government of Donald Trump placed it “on its blacklist” of Chinese companies.
This news means that the Chinese mobile brand could immediately lose access to Android updates, access to Google, Google Play Store, YouTube and all programs or apps related to Google.
This is not the first conflict between the U.S. and Huawei, as we recall, the country advised its allies not to use the brand's products. The reason? According to the American government, Huawei is “the arm of the Chinese government” and they imprisoned the CFO for the alleged violation of the sanctions imposed by Washington against Iran.
Apart from the American giant, there are also other companies like Intel, Qualcomm, and Broadcom, some of the largest manufacturers of
hardware components on the market, that are breaking ties
with Huawei.
For now, people who have Huawei products can only wait to see how the brand reacts, since it claimed to have a “Plan B” in case this happened.
