Some cybercriminals managed to steal half a million euros
from the French football team PSG (París Saint-Germain), el cual iba destinado al club argentino Boca Juniors por los derechos de formación en la transferencia del jugador Leandro Paredes.
Both clubs agreed to make the payment in three installments, but
the Argentine club never received any payment, while the French club claimed
to have paid.
During the verification of the documents and exchanged emails to demonstrate whether
the payment had actually been made, they noticed that in one of the documents
attached where the payment was ordered, the email address was slightly different.
According to what has been confirmed, the email address changed by a single letter, in order to impersonate the identity of one of the participants in the operation.
