The Russian judiciary has recently imposed a sanction
of 4 millions of rubles (58.280 Euros) on Twitter and Facebook for not storing
the personal data of Russian citizens on servers located in the same
country.
This is the sanction with the penalty imposed on
large Western tech companies for the use of the internet of the Federation
Russia. If the companies transfer the data over the next few months
they will avoid paying.
All platforms that do not comply with these data storage requirements
can be sanctioned in Russia and subsequently blocked. Russian legislation establishes that the data must be
stored in the country for 'security reasons'.
Estas leyes permiten a las autoridades bloquear en el país
todas las plataformas que no cumplen el requisito de almacenamiento en
territorio ruso. Twitter y Facebook ya fueron amenazadas con ser bloqueadas en
Rusia hace nueve meses, este incumplimiento solo se ha traducido por ahora, in
la sanción anunciada actualmente.
Rusia también ha intentado bloquear Telegram, con éxito
limitado ya que Telegram sigue siendo altamente utilizado, incluso por altos
funcionarios del gobierno, los cuales según informes se conectan con VPN para
evitar la prohibición.
For the moment, el único servicio bloqueado en Rusia por esta
ilegalidad es LinkedIn, que dejo de ser accesible en 2016. Rusia ha
bloqueado plataformas muy populares como Pornhub,
ThePirateBay o Wikipedia.
