Health services are being the most attacked since the beginning of the pandemic. This time it was the turn of the Balearic service, the IB-Salut. The largest cyberattack in the Balearic Islands has resulted in a 30.000 Affected medical records.

The past 29 December, The attack that ended up affecting the medical records was detected. Fortunately, medical history was not affected. According to sources from the IB-Salut, The objective was to steal and then encrypt and then request a ransom. This is known as Ransomware.

Fortunately, The quick intervention of the technicians was able to mitigate the attack. Waiting for all services to be restored, the Government has announced that it will make an investment of more than half a million euros to strengthen the security of IB-Salut's computer and documentation services.

Computer crimes have doubled in the Balearic Islands since last year 2018, reaching a whopping 10.000 cases during the year 2020.
