The COVID pandemic has caused, also, a great increase in the number of cyberattacks. A large part of these attacks has been directed at the healthcare sector, despite improvements applied in recent years to protect sensitive information.

According to several studies, the healthcare industry (not only including hospitals) has suffered a third of cyberattacks around the globe, followed by government agencies and their data with a 14% of the attacks.

Los atacantes, generally, they have been able to infiltrate networks and steal information through various methods, including Ransomware attacks, the exploitation of weak passwords or access to unsecured databases.

Figures like these should worry us and be the starting signal to invest resources to protect all sectors, since stored data has great value for cybercriminals.
