En un comunicado han informado acerca de unos hechos ocurridos el pasado 6 de octubre en los cuales un tercero accedió a los últimos dígitos de tarjetas de crédito de clientes y luego procesar cambios de tarjeta SIM no autorizados.
SIM swapping occurs when criminals take control of a victim's phone number by convincing their operators to transfer the phone number to an attacker's SIM card through social engineering or by bribing the operators' employees.
However, it seems that the attackers did not manage to access the full bank card number or other user information. What they did obtain were names, Addresses, pricing plans and other data linked to the services.
Verizon bloqueó los accesos no autorizados y hasta la fecha no se han detectado evidencias de actividad maliciosa.
