Practically 9 out of every 10 companies in Spain have suffered some attempt of a ransomware attack during the year 2020 and the staggering 72% was successful. In addition, one 64% of the attacked entities paid the ransom. Nevertheless, only half of those affected recovered the information.
“State of the Phish”, one of the latest reports from Proofpoint, studies the responses of some 10.000 professionals in 15 countries in which the striking gaps in awareness and “cyber hygiene” related to the real-world attack landscape are evident.
The same study confirms that, throughout last year, around 1.600 campaigns used some catchy brand, Microsoft being the most popular. Also prevailing are impersonations of Google, Amazon, DHL, Adobe, and Docusign.
