Pradeo, a company that investigates mobile applications, has discovered two applications that hide spyware, putting at risk around one and a half million Android device users who downloaded this application.
These applications, named File Recovery and Data Recovery and File Manager, developed by the same company including malicious code that collects personal information without the user's knowledge. The data collected includes contact lists, media files, location and SIM card data, among others.
To make matters worse, the developers have managed to make the application appear legitimate by artificially increasing the number of downloads so that the victim user believes it is a reputable and reliable application.
Este incidente muestra la importancia de verificar qué descargamos en las tiendas de aplicaciones y nos indican que hay que sospechar si una aplicación solicita excesivos permisos.
