Italy, Under a new ransomware threat

A cybercriminal group that has already carried out attacks in Europe and Asia is now targeting numerous Italian companies, according to the company Proofpoint. They themselves also indicate that it is very likely that malware available for purchase on the dark web is being used.

This malware's main objective is to weaken the defense systems of the infected system, thus opening the possibility of later executing other more harmful types of attacks. It is known by the name Wikiloader.

The main cybercrime group taking advantage of it calls itself TA544, whose origin is unknown. Their attacks have already reached, also, Poland, Germany, Japan and Spain since 2017.
