The report “2024 IoT Security Landscape Report”, carried out by Netgear and Bitdefender, has concluded that the proliferation of smart home devices means more and more attempts to attack home networks.

They have been analyzed close to 10.000 millions of events about 50 million devices for a year. These devices have been installed in about 4 million homes. By devices, Smart TVs (Smart TV) have meant the 34% of attack attempts, followed by smart plugs and video recorders.

Almost all of these attempts have been based on attempts to exploit known and still unaddressed vulnerabilities. Each household has an average of 21 Connected devices.

Bitdefender warns in the report that cybercriminals use automated techniques to detect these vulnerable devices and launch attacks.
