Romanian energy provider Electrica confirmed that it has been the victim of a ransomware attack that impacted its technological infrastructure, although according to the company, there was no access or extraction of customer data.

Electrica quickly detected the incident, implementing containment measures to minimize its effects. It was confirmed that the main services and power distribution were not compromised, But the attack affected the company's internal and operational systems.

The ransomware attack is part of a growing trend in which cybercriminals target critical organizations to disrupt operations or demand substantial payments in exchange for data and system recovery.
