Manchester Airports Group (MAG), the largest airport operator in the United Kingdom, confirmed a cyberattack that compromised data of approximately 8,7 millions of customers at three airports: Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands. The incident was detected on 25 August 2026 and unauthorized access occurred during the previous weekend.
The exposed data includes email addresses, phone numbers, vehicle registration numbers and postal codes, linked to parking reservations, access to VIP lounges, Fast Track services and WiFi records in the terminals. MAG clarified that most of the compromised information corresponds only to WiFi registration emails, and that no bank or payment data was affected.
The airport group contained the risk immediately, notificó a las autoridades competentes y está trabajando con asesores especializados en ciberseguridad. MAG enfatizó que en ningún momento se comprometió la seguridad de los pasajeros, la seguridad aérea ni las operaciones de los aeropuertos, que continúan funcionando con normalidad.
