Sears and Best Buy, two online retail companies and the airline Delta, were victims of a cyberattack that could have exposed their customers' payment information as a result of a security flaw in a software provider.

Sears explained in a statement that it was notified of the incident in mid-March and that the problem led to unauthorized access to the credit card information of at least some of 100.000 its customers.

Sears stated that its stores were not at risk and that its internal systems were not accessed due to the security breach. There was no impact on the information of customers who use a Sears-branded credit card.
