The new cryptographic malware that affects Linux computers, removes other malicious software programs and then connects to your systems.

Trend Micro has discovered a new variety of malware in Linux. This type of malware “selfish” it is responsible for eliminating other malware and cryptocurrency mining programs to be able to use the victim's resources for its own benefit.

The company's researchers discovered this malware after performing a routine check. This happened after viewing a script in one of their honeypots that downloaded a binary from a specific domain. That binary in question is a version of mining software called XMR-Stak. They also mentioned that different fragments of the code resemble features of Xbash and KORKERDS.

The malware also uses Crontabs to survive reboots and deletions.
