Google has received
a million-dollar fine for having collected information from children under
13 años para mostrar anuncios personalizados para cada usuario.
The total amount of the sanction corresponds to two fines: one from
136 million dollars, imposed by the Federal Trade Commission, and another from
34 million dollars, imposed by the New York Attorney General's Office.
YouTube has been sanctioned for collecting data from minors, such as
browsing data. This data can only be collected with
parental consent. However, the American company stated that it was not affected by
this regulation, since they do not have users under 13 years old on its portal. Nevertheless, the
the video platform was advertised to other companies as a popular platform
among children.
In addition, the court obliges Google to place personalized ads for children under
age, stopping the collection of data from young people. These changes are
expected to arrive next year.
