In the year 2015, in Ukraine, there was an attack that caused a power outage affecting more than 80.000 people. The following year the same thing happened again, with the difference that this time the outage affected 250.000 households. In 2017 this problem spread to many more services such as the airport, the central units responsible for monitoring radiation levels and, even, los bancos. But, what does all this have to do with Spain?
Miguel Thomas, responsible for cybersecurity at Everis Aerospace and Defense, stated that Spain is the third country that, in 2018, received the most attacks, only surpassed by the United States and the United Kingdom.
Javier Antón, regional director of cybersecurity at Fujitsu, for his part, opined that due to the incidents in Catalonia, many ministry and public administration websites are experiencing a considerable increase in attacks.
The National Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures (CNPIC), has quantified a total of 4.707 cyberattacks between January and August.
Antonio Villaverde, security manager at Atos, he commented that transportation services like AENA or Renfe have a critical level of risk.
From the company Everis they wanted to clarify that they consider that, despite the high number of cyberattacks reported, the actual number is much lower, since there are many false alarms. At last, they added that, just as there are false alarms, there are also some attack cases that are not reported.
