The first Thursday of May is World Password Day, which aims to raise user awareness about its importance, since they are the gateway to our personal information.
The most notable new features of Firefox 76 are those related to Firefox Lockwise, a password manager, including the implementation of the alert system, which will trigger when it detects that a site where an account is registered has been compromised and user credentials have been exposed online.
The alert will activate in the password manager and if it detects that the same password has been used for other sites, it will request a change. There is nothing that other password managers don’t already offer, but without a doubt it is a welcome advance in Firefox. This update also improves the creation of secure passwords and although it is not ready yet, when it is, Firefox Lockwise and Firefox Private Relay are going to be a very interesting combination for managing online accounts and credentials.
In essence, Firefox Private Relay allows the creation of email aliases with one click so that the user does not have to expose their real address every time they sign up on a new site, thus avoiding spam and other potentially harmful security issues for their account.
The operation of Firefox Private Relay is simple, once the service is activated, una extensión para el navegador generará un alias por cada nuevo registro, y los mensajes enviados a ese alias se redirigirán a la dirección de correo electrónico ligada a la cuenta de Firefox, por lo que solo Mozilla conocerá la dirección real del usuario.
