Accenture, one of the large IT consulting firms, has been attacked by the LockBit gang through a ransomware-type attack. The group threatens to publish data from files allegedly stolen from this company during a recent cyberattack, under threat of a multi-million dollar ransom.
After the attack became known, Accenture responded by stating that irregular activities had been detected in one of the company's environments and that they immediately isolated the affected servers. Then, according to the same statements, the affected systems were recovered through backups and the company's operations were not affected, as well as the clients' systems.
While Accenture communicated this, LockBit continued leaking data. The vast majority of these files are brochures for Accenture's products, courses for employees, and various marketing materials. It seems that among these first leaked files there is no sensitive data.
Even so, LockBit continues its announcements advertising the stolen data from the company for “any entity that is interested in them”.
This attack creates a bad reputation for the company, since among its offered services is insurance against cyberattacks.
Meanwhile, many questions remain unanswered about the incident, the biggest being how LockBit managed to get into the network of one of the largest multinational companies in the world.
Accenture, with this attack, se suma a una lista que también a protagonizado la aseguradora AXA.
