The Windows operating system itself already includes an antivirus that, as is logical and normal, is far from being the perfect antivirus. It has just been revealed that it has a weakness that would allow attackers to bypass malware detection.

The error lies in the fact that Microsoft Defender itself allows users to define a series of folders that are not subjected to the antivirus's own scanning. Like this, Knowing these folders enables attackers to know where to place their malicious code.

Researchers who discovered this indicate that any user has the possibility to access that list of scan exceptions, regardless of their permissions.

To date, Microsoft no se ha pronunciado ni ha indicado si lanzará actualizaciones al respecto para solucionar estas debilidades.
