The satellite communications company Viasat Inc, said on Monday that it was investigating a suspected cyberattack that caused a partial outage of its residential broadband services in Ukraine and other European countries.

Viasat said that a third-party cybersecurity firm was investigating the causes of a recent disruption in its KA-SAT network, which provides high-speed satellite Internet coverage in Europe.

The disruption may have been due to a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS), Sky News reported on Monday.

The company issued a statement saying “Our investigation into the service disruption continues, but so far we believe it was caused by a cyberattack” and he added that there was “no indication” that customer data had been affected.

For its part, the Russian government accuses Western countries of fabricating cyberwar claims to tarnish the country's reputation during this war.
