In the midst of the uproar over the latest cases of alleged spying on politicians through Pegasus software, some cybercriminals have tried to jump on the bandwagon and have taken the opportunity to create and distribute fake tools to make victims believe they are checking if they have the program installed.

But nothing could be further from the truth, what is hidden is an application that will install other types of malware. The criminals have created a website very similar to that of Amnesty International, NGO that is publishing investigations about this espionage software.

En la página aparece para descargar una aplicación que luego resulta ser una herramienta de acceso remoto llamada Sarwent. Durante la ejecución, la víctima cree que está actuando un antivirus cuando lo cierto es que está ocurriendo todo lo contrario.

No sólo existe la aplicación de ordenador, sino también han aparecido aplicaciones en la tienda de Google Play Store por el “módico” precio de 10€.

Of course, son aplicaciones falsas y deberíamos evitar su descarga.
