Banking apps are often an excuse for cybercriminals to use them for their advantage. In a new campaign, an SMS is sent to the potential victim urging them to “download BBVA Protect or their account will be blocked”.
This campaign is more aggressive than previous ones and aims to capture authentication data, specifically from BBVA customers. Although it is a method similar to previous scams, this time the victim, by clicking the link, installs a supposed security app.
@BBVA_espana I just received this SMS. I would not doubt that it is Phishing. I mean, a scam pic.twitter.com/80kh9TcpDV
