The company, based in New York, discovered that unauthorized third parties had accessed names, clinical trial information and some 600.000 social security numbers. The company committed to notifying the affected individuals and regulators.

Among the procedures followed, the company disconnected its systems from the network and hired experts to try to mitigate the situation. So far, No cybercriminal group has claimed responsibility for these actions, according to the outlet The Record.

It is not the first biotechnology company to suffer an incident of this type. In March the victim was the Indian giant Sun Pharmaceuticals.
