This social network became popular after Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter, now has about 12 millions of users spread across 11.000 Instances. This is how Mastodon calls each of the autonomous servers that make up this social network. Each one has its own rules and policies, controlled by their administrators.
The vulnerability was fixed in a recent update, which all Mastodon administrators are advised to install as soon as possible since the accounts are susceptible to being violated.
It is not the first serious vulnerability that the Elephant's social network has solved. In 2023 There was one that allowed an attacker to send posts capable of creating web shells on target servers, thus violating a weak system.
