A recent study by NordPass and NordStellar has revealed that in 2024, the most used passwords in Spain were simple numerical sequences such as “123456”, “123456789” and “12345678”. These combinations are extremely vulnerable and can be cracked in less than a second by cybercriminals.

In addition to the numerical sequences, Other common passwords include terms like “Spain”, “qwerty123” and “password”. Using country names or common words makes the attackers' job even easier, as they are easily predictable.

Persistence in the use of weak passwords indicates a lack of cybersecurity awareness among users. This practice puts the privacy and security of personal information at risk, as it facilitates unauthorized access to sensitive accounts and data.

To improve security, It's essential for users to adopt stronger passwords. It is recommended to create keys of at least 15 characters that combine uppercase letters, b, Numbers and Symbols, avoiding obvious patterns or common words. In addition, It is advisable to use password managers to generate and store secure keys, thus reducing the possibility of being a victim of cyberattacks.
