Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), British manufacturer owned by Tata Motors, suffered a cyber attack detected at the end of August 2025 which forced them to halt their global operations, including factories in the UK, Europe and India. The affected plants include the facilities in Halewood, Solihull and Wolverhampton, where normally around 1.000 vehicles are assembled each day.
According to recent estimates, JLR has reportedly lost over 1.170 millions of euros so far due to the halt in production and sales. Analysis indicates that losses could escalate if the disruption continues, with potential loss figures that could exceed 3,5 billion if the factories remain shut down until November..
JLR has extended the production halt at least until 24 September 2025 while it investigates the attack and prepares a 'controlled' restart of its global operations. The company notes that some data may have been compromised, although it has not confirmed exactly which data or the extent of the access.
The production stoppage has also severely affected JLR's supply chain, leaving thousands of employees idle during the shutdown. In addition, dealerships and sales points are also facing limitations, as some sales and logistics systems have been disabled or rendered inoperative.
